“A better looking you”

Looking for a rejuvenation lift that doesn’t involve surgery, hospital stay, and wounds and dressings to attend to? At Northern Sydney Dermatology we provide a liquid lift which could be right for you.

A procedure which can be performed over a lunch time with no down time. You can wear makeup straight away and go straight back to work if need be.

The liquid lift gives a refreshing rejuvenated appearance by reducing jowls, temple hollowness and sunken cheeks. It helps open the eyes, upturn the corners of the mouth and soften the nasolabial folds.

What does the liquid lift treat?

As we age, we naturally produce less collagen and elastin. The skin and fat layer thin and loses its volume, strength and elasticity resulting in fine lines, wrinkles and sagging. The facial bones also start to shrink giving a skeletonized appearance. The liquid lift is a facial rejuvenation treatment using injectable dermal fillers and muscle relaxants improving the skins overall appearance by lifting and smoothing the skin in a natural way that ‘doesn’t make you look like you have had something done’.

The liquid lift treats the following symptoms:

  • Fine lines

  • Wrinkles

  • Sagging

  • Acne scarring

  • Scarring

  • Crows feet

  • Sunken cheeks

  • Sunken chin

  • Thin lips

  • Smoker’s lines

What does the liquid lift involve?

The liquid lift involves a combination of cosmetic injectable products to recreate volume, smooth lines and wrinkles, giving the face a smooth, more youthful appearance. Northern Sydney Dermatology uses the most up-to-date, advanced, safe and effective products to best suit your needs. It is often best to start with the stronger fillers and then finish with the lighter fillers.

Strong Dermal fillers

Help to replace volume around the temples, cheeks and jaw line. As a result, they lift the cheeks, smooth the jaw line, reduce fold lines around the nose as well as improving volume to the temples.

Moderate Dermal fillers

Are used around the chin and mouth, improving the chins sunken appearance and downturned mouth.

Light dermal fillers

Are used around the mouth and eyes. Redefining the lip boarder, removing lip lines and smoker’s lines. They improve dark circles under the eye and tired eyes.

Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum toxin reduces lines from around the eyes, forehead and frown lines

What are dermal fillers?

There are many types of dermal fillers, the ones chosen for the liquid lift are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance which occurs naturally in the body. It is long lasting but not permanent and has very limited side effects and minimal allergic potential. It is easy to administer, helping smooth wrinkles and scarring while improving volume loss in an ageing face.

What is Botulinum Toxin?

Botulinum Toxin is a medical grade protein which blocks the muscle from working. It has been around since the 1970’s. There are three types of Botox and there are no considerable differences in adverse events between the three. Botox helps soften and improve lines seen during facial expressions, in particular frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet.

What to expect when having a liquid lift with Dr Liz.

  • Firstly, you will have a consultation with Dr Liz in her Northern Sydney Dermatology rooms. During this consultation you will discuss all the areas which bother you the most and Dr Liz will put together a treatment plan best suited for your needs.

  • You will then come back for the procedure which is usually performed over 2 visits

  • If treating around the mouth and lips Dr Liz recommends applying a local topical anaesthetic 30-60 minutes prior. You can take Panadol if not allergic. Otherwise a local is not really required as the procedure is relatively painless.

  • During the procedure Dr Liz will show you the results using a mirror allowing you to see the progress (usually half way). This enables you to give feedback and get an idea of how everything is progressing.

  • Makeup can be applied following the procedure.

  • Dr Liz recommends having this procedure done 4-6 weeks prior to any important function.

what happens after the procedure?

The results are immediate. Usually Dr Liz will show you your progress after she has completed one side of your face. This allows you to see the results, understand what is happening and give any feedback.

Very rarely do you experience redness, swelling and bruising. Please inform Dr Liz if you experience any pain or infection.

The filler draws in more water over a few weeks, so the results continue to get better after the procedure is performed. The filler can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on the product and location of injection.

You should not have fillers if you are...

  • Pregnant

  • Breastfeeding

  • Have an infection in the treated area

  • Immunosuppressant

  • Have an allergy to the product

  • Hesitant or unsure about the procedure

Questions to ask Dr Liz before getting a liquid lift?

  • What will it cost me?

  • If you are at risk of cold sores: Should I take a tablet to prevent cold sore?

  • How long will this last?

  • How many visits do I need to achieve this?

  • What are my risks?
