Over the last decade lasers have become an increasingly important option in the treatment of leg vessels. This is due to the development of longer wave length lasers. One such laser is the Nd:YAG 1064 laser. At Northern Sydney Dermatology, a Candela GentleMax long pulsed 1064-nm Laser is available for treatment of leg veins. This is more effective in treating leg vessels which are deeper and with a larger diameter than other lasers available. This allows for treatment of vessels up to 2-3mm in diameter.
Treatment with a long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser can be painful but with the GentleMax Laser a cryogen spray is incorporated into the device to increase patient comfort.
